The Moment We've All Been Waiting For.....

And here it is, the moment we've all been waiting for.....

The color gurus at Pantone have announced the 2013 Color of the Year:  Emerald Green!

Now, I love green.  It's the color I wake up to every morning.  It's a great color to work with because it can be either warm or cool; and because it's a hue that's abundant in nature, it's very comforting for most people.

But let's look at this particular green.  Green is made by mixing blue and yellow (remember back in grade school art class?).  This Emerald Green definitely veers toward the blue end of the spectrum, so it's really more of a blue-green than a true green.  It's direct complement is red-orange, which means it will work well with corals.  Or with red and orange individually.  It also blends beautifully with its analogous hues: green, blue, and blue-violet.

Oh, now I'm getting excited.  I'm off to find some color inspiration for you.  Don't go away...I'll be right back!
