I spent this morning with my lovely friend Maggie. Coffee and biscotti in my sunny kitchen.
Someone recently described Maggie as a genius -- someone who brings people together and creates community. That she is. Today, she changed my life by uttering a few simple words:
"The balls in the air are all rubber."
Oh. Huh. I've never thought of it that way.
It's so much less stressful trying to keep the balls in the air when they're rubber than when they're, say, eggs. When you've been juggling eggs and you drop the ball....well, disaster. But if your balls are all rubber and you drop one, it can just bounce right back. No harm done. Brilliant.
