Decorating your kids room...

There's an article in the NY Times today called "Go to Your Room (and Decorate)", which is about a book that gives families ideas for getting "unplugged".  One of the ideas is that kids should go decorate their rooms, and parents should give them the creative freedom to do what they'd like.

Now, I personally happen to be in the same camp on this one.  Just because they're kids doesn't mean they shouldn't have any say in the design decisions for their own rooms.  I can't tell you how many times I see questions like, "what color should I paint my daughter's room?"  My first response is....why not ask your daughter?  Even if she's only two years old, I'll bet she knows her colors, or could pick one she likes from a paint chip.  So, ask her.

Whether your child says "my favorite colors are black and grey" or "bright orange stripes, please" or even "I want a circus in my room" you can make it work for both of you.

Here are some beautiful, colorful rooms that can please both a parent and a child.....
